The Uncommon Cure by T. Agvanian Book Blast - Win a $25 Gift Card!

Title: The Uncommon Cure
Author: T. Agvanian
Publisher: iUniverse
Genre: Cultural Heritage
Format: Ebook/Paperback

The past haunts you and the future terrifies you. What do you do, seek redemption, sink into madness, or eat? These stories follow the lives of women trying to find emotional peace through food, fantasy, or virtue. The urge for liberation from pain drives them to face conflicts arising from the desire for relief.

Eva has been carrying a terrible secret from the Second World War in Ukraine. As she approaches the end of her life, she wishes to eat herself into a diabetic coma to escape the guilt. Unfortunately, her daughter-in-law feels it is her Hippocratic duty to save Eva from gastronomic excess. While each comes at the other from complex, very different life experiences, peaceful intentions inevitably end in war.

Long ago, Sarah gave up living on the outside. Now in an attempt to insulate herself from painful events, she tries to dream an alternative reality into existence.

After Magnolia commits the ultimate sin and realizes there will be no happy ending, she must somehow find clarity and peace. As a narrator of a sleepy American suburb comically recounts a squirrel’s demise, she soon discovers that the joke may be on her. The Uncommon Cure shares a novella and three short stories that intertwine the struggles of several female characters as they attempt to cure their ills with unorthodox solutions.

Are you familiar with the consequences of climate change and methods for sharing the permissible carbon quotas? Are you aware that we are using up nature’s capital and not just its interest, that world poverty is rampant and urgently needs to be reduced, and that the consequence of current US immigration laws is unsustainable population growth? We Have to Change aims to highlight these issues, to make us stop and think seriously about them, and to encourage everyone to become actively involved in the global challenges facing the world today. It presents climate change, liquidation of nature’s capital, world poverty, and unsustainable population growth together, in their interaction, in one concise volume. Author Maria Ronay reviews the world resources available, predicts the dangers ahead, and proposes courses of action for individuals and the world to mitigate climate change, preserve nature’s capital, reduce world poverty, and stabilize the world’s population by emphasizing existing United Nations programs. For the US carbon tax on gasoline and electricity invested in reducing atmospheric carbon and reforming legal immigration laws are recommended.

Cover Reveal! Cooking Up Trouble by Judi Lynn

Coocking up TroubleTitle: Cooking Up Trouble
Author: Judi Lynn
Publisher: Lyrical Shine
Genre: Romance
Format: Ebook

Nothing stirs the pot like a new man in town…

Welcome to Mill Pond and small-town country living, filled with fresh air, fresh food, and plenty of fresh gossip—especially when it comes to romance…
It’s impossible not to notice when someone new shows up in Mill Pond. Especially someone as obviously out-of-place as Ian McGregor. His stylish suit and fancy car scream “city slicker.” And when Tessa Lawrence discovers he can’t even change a tire, she has no choice but to help. That’s just what the locals do. And when she finds out Ian’s her new neighbor, of course she’s obliged to invite him to dinner too…

Turns out Ian’s come from New York to open a luxury resort on the property next door to Tessa’s farm, where she grows berries and sells her famous jams and delectable baked goods. But despite their quickly growing friendship and temptingly close proximity, Tessa plans to keep things with Ian strictly neighborly. For one thing, Ian’s got a fiancĂ©e who, unlike Tessa, doesn’t have dirt under her nails. Plus, Tessa knows from bitter experience that a guy this gorgeous is all too likely to break a simple country girl’s heart. Even if he’s as sweet as one of her cinnamon buns—and equally hard to resist…

Lonesome Town by Tom Mendicino Book Feature

Title: Lonesome Town
Author: Tom Mendicino
Release Date: November 24, 2015
Publisher: Lyrical Press
Genre: General Fiction
Format: Ebook

Charlie Beresford and Kevin “KC” Conroy came of age in Tom Mendicino’s KC, At Bat and Travelin’ Man. Now they’re struggling with the realities of adulthood, in this powerfully honest story of unlikely friendship and enduring love.

At twenty-two, Charlie Beresford has a Dartmouth degree, an entry-level radio job, and a hunch that he’s already made one of the biggest mistakes of his life. It’s no wonder his old high-school crush, KC Conroy, is wary when they encounter each other again. Five years ago, Charlie callously discarded him after they shared an intense adolescent affair.

This KC is wiser and more worldly than the aspiring baseball star Charlie used to idolize. Back then, fame and success seemed a given. Now KC is chasing his last chance to make it as a pro, playing with an independent minor league team. But Charlie has changed too. Time and distance have taught him what’s worth fighting for, even when the odds are long—and that the only thing worse than striking out might be never taking a chance at all.

Praise for Tom Mendicino’s Probation “Thoughtful, textured and poignant…an exciting impressive debut.” —Time Out NY

“A smart, engaging, witty, sad and unusual book about the complicated nature of family and love.” —Bart Yates “A potent debut.” —Publishers Weekly

“Achingly honest.” Vestal McIntryre, author of Lake Overturn

The Way We Lived Then by Adrienne Fox Book Blast - Win a $25 Gift Card

672824_Personalized-Banner-Ad-without-ebook_L1

The Way We LivedTitle: The Way We Lived Then
Author: Adrienne Fox
Publisher: AuthorHouse
Genre: Family and Relationship
Format: Ebook

Adrienne Fox is a retired musician who began her literary career reviewing concerts. This is her fifth novel. The other novels are the following: The Retirement, Starstruck, Tit for Tat, and IQ. Adrienne Fox writes about life in Britain from 1941–1963, when old traditions came head-to-head with new ideas as wartime austerity gave way to the Swinging Sixties. She colorfully describes growing up in a constant conflict of the morals, views, and opinions at a time when material goods were in short supply, conversation took the place of electronic entertainment, and serious communication was restricted to letter writing. Through wry humor, she tells of her efforts to understand family conflicts and of her own ill-formed ambitions. Desperately wanting to please in order to “keep the peace” but frequently appearing to fall short, “Can’t do right for doing wrong” aptly describes periods of her progress. Her story paints a tragic-comic picture of the incidents and attitudes within the time frame beginning in a northern industrial town, where the ration books vied with the hymn books in the family home, to college life in London and trying to find a job.

I am an American writer with a penchant for Paris and all things pink! Before writing novels, I worked as a print journalist for a Pulitzer prize winning newspaper and served in the United States Air Force as a Radio and Television Broadcaster.
